Increasing
your energy level is a good idea but it is easier said than done. You
can have temporary surges in energy levels with the help of caffeine or
sugar but these are actually worse for you in the long run. Some people
are fortunate, in that they are naturally full of energy. There are ways
in which you can achieve such high levels of energy without overdosing
on coffee or energy drinks. The answer to our energy problem lies in our
diets. We can see how our diets may result in our having low levels of
energy and how we can change this. Try and follow the simple steps
outlined below if you want to increase your energy levels.
1. Increase your intake of iron. A simple blood test will tell you if you have a low blood count or whether the level of iron in your blood is low. People who have a low blood count tend to have low levels of energy and are empty of any zing or zest. Often, low energy levels are, in fact, directly related to the low intake of iron in a person's diet. Some people may need to take iron supplements as well. These include those who are anemic, those who always feel tired and those who are suffering from iron-deficiency. Iron boosts the growth of red blood cells and help transfer oxygen in your blood, thereby boosting energy levels.
2. Exercise regularly. There are a lot of people who complain of going to sleep feeling tired and waking up feeling no better. While exercising is probably a distant thought thanks to fatigue, it has been shown that exercising helps our bodies remain energetic and boost our overall health as well.
3. Take short naps. Studies have shown that taking a short mid-day nap helps keep us fresh and energetic. In today's world it is hard for most of us to take mid-day naps but it would help if you could somehow squeeze in a tiny 15-20 minute long nap in the afternoon. It will boost your performance at work and keep you fresh longer.
4. Try herbs like ginseng and gingko biloba. They are recommended by nutritionists as well. Avoid sugar and caffeine, especially an excess of both. They create an energy surge but actually decrease your energy levels after the surge has worn out.

Remember, proper diet and a good fitness regime are the key factors that will help in boosting your energy.
