My Herbalife Diet

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on September 3, 2006, I stepped onto the scales in my bathroom. The needle bolted up to 200 pounds and kept going. 210, 215 and finally it came to rest at 220 pounds. I’m only 5’9”. I was 40 pounds overweight! I was appalled! I didn’t eat a lot. Yes, I ate the wrong kinds of foods, but I didn’t eat it by the ton.

At this point in my life, I wasn’t aware of the human body going into starvation mode when it doesn’t receive the required number of calories and harboring the food values (good or bad) of everything you shove into your mouth. No, I did not exercise. Nevertheless, I couldn’t believe how heavy I was. I felt like dog feces. No energy. Lifeless. No passion for life. I hated myself. Moreover, I hated the way I looked. I had never followed a diet before. I had never needed to. However, at 220 pounds I couldn’t take it any more. I had to do something.

I stumbled on the Herbalife weight loss plan by accident. I responded to an advertisement online for a home business opportunity. It turned out to be a Herbalife Rep seeking new distributors. Up to this point, I had heard of Herbalife, but had no idea what they did. No inkling of what kinds of products or services they offered. The rep explained to me in detail, the Herbalife plan and ended his presentation with…”Do you know anyone who wants to lose weight?” The timing couldn’t have been better. I was like a kid in class with his hand up and waving in the air saying…”Me teacher, me!” I was ready for it.

I believe that this condition of readiness is a paramount factor in successful weight loss. The plan is simple. The Herbalife weight loss program uses what they refer to as a 3 - 2 - 1 approach. Simply put and without getting into the how and why, the plan consists of taking: 1 multivitamin tablet 3 times a day 3 cell activator tablets 3 times a day (Yes, total of 12 tablets.) 1 healthy protein shake 2 times a day 1 healthy meal 1 time a day. I became a distributor and I was my first customer.

I set a weight loss goal of 40 pounds and began the program on September 13th 2006. I followed the plan religiously, and two days shy of four months, January 11, 2007, I had reached my goal of losing the 40 pounds, 6 inches off my waist and 26 inches over my whole body. I saw and felt a difference right away. I actually lost 6 pounds the first three days on the plan. My weight loss then evened out to a safe and healthy average of 2 – 2 1/2  pounds per week.

Incredible as it might seem and even though I don’t recommend this, I did it WITHOUT doing any exercise while drinking one beer a day! The plan works. Today, July 13, 2008, two months before my two-year anniversary of beginning the diet, I have gained back only 11 pounds WITHOUT following the recommended maintenance plan of 1 shake and two meals per day and still, WITHOUT doing any exercise. I still have a net loss of 29 pounds.

Imagine if I had exercised and followed the maintenance plan!

Today I started the plan again to lose the 11 pounds. I also began a workout schedule. I still accept clients but only if they convince me that they are ready to lose weight. Good luck to everyone with the desire to change their life!
