Thyroid Patient Diet
I am a thyroid patient since last 15 years. So when I look back I find myself struggling with my weight all my life. But still I was never uncomfortable and led a very active life. But since last year March I noticed a sudden gain in my weight. I took my Tsh test and doctor increased my dose of ‘eltroxin’ . I was advised exercise and dieting. I cut down on my salt and fat intake . I stopped taking sugar. But my weight kept on increasing. I started feeling inactive and uncomfortable. I could not fit into my clothes . Even newly stitched clothes started suffocating me. I did not know what to do.
Then my niece came to my rescue and suggested a dietitian. I was a little reluctant because of the fees as well as the probable failure of the diet. Any way - i contacted that lady . She asked me to send my medical reports and my food habits land life style. I sent it all through mail. She put me on a Four days diet of breakfast=one cup milk with one vegetable sandwich of brown bread. Mid morning = one glass of lemon water/tea /coffee with one salted biscuit (t/c without sugar) lunch and dinner=50% bran+50% wheat flour roti with lots of normally cooked vegetables and curd. evening =tea+biscuit night before going to bed= milk and fruit like papaya, apple, peaches and other non fattening fruits.
To my surprise i lost 1 kg in four days. Then for the next four days she asked me to add gram four in my diet I lost another 1.5 kg. Eating rice and corn and lentil is a big NO. She keeps changing my diet every four days. This avoids getting it monotonous . I have lost 4 kg in less than a month. And the best thing is I don’t get any hunger pangs. Nor do I feel any weakness. I have still a long way to go. But I am happy that I have made a beginning. I have not come across any such diet on the web so far.
