I went down three sizes…

October 5th, 2008 by Thrandur

The South Beach Diet truly is a miracle. Before I started on this diet, I was on Atkins and barely making it with the rigid guidelines for eating.

I was at a loss of what to do next, but I knew that I had to find something else. My fiancé at the time bought home a book on the South Beach Diet. I read it from top to bottom and back again. I wanted to be an expert on the diet before starting it. I was suffering from the plateau from Atkins, and I was hoping that South Beach would me move past that.

As all women know, it’s hard to lose weight with all of our issues, but when you hit a plateau, nothing is more depressing. With that depression, came the temptation to just blow up all of my progress and start a feast. The temptation was growing more every day, so I knew I had to make a new choice and quick.

It took around three months before I started to see a difference with South Beach, and the first two weeks of cleansing the body of cravings was somewhat brutal but completely worth the effort.

I am what people call a sugar addict, and it broke me of that habit with those two weeks. I could be at the office and not want to indulge in the treats that were offered on a regular basis.

I went down three sizes with this method of dieting and have kept it off for a while now.

Occasionally, I do have the weekend of not being perfect on it, but the best thing about South Beach is the variety of foods and the wealth of knowledge on the net about recipes for the diet.

As the book suggests, it is wise to incorporate exercise with this diet. The food choices are only one part of the equation. However, if you are unable to exercise, you can still lose the weight. It will just be at a slower pace.

The South Beach diet is perfect for every lifestyle from the busy mom at home to the business executive who barely has time to eat. South Beach is the healthiest diet out there right now. It is giving an individual the basic tools by asking the person to just choose foods that are what most doctors suggest in the first place – whole grains, fruits and vegetables and foods in low in fat.

To me, this isn’t a diet but a lifestyle, and it’s the best one you can make for your life.

I can see that the popularity of South Beach still exists today, and My-Diet-Program.com has some great links to products for the diet. I suggest buying the book from this website and then you’re on your way to a better, healthier you.

I’ve lost about 30lbs in 3 1/2 months!

October 1st, 2008 by Thrandur

Hi My name is Colin. I’ve lost about 30lbs in 3 1/2 months using the so called “Atkins Diet” which is basically a low carbohydrate diet. You start with a 2 week introduction, which helps your body get used to the sudden change in your eating habits.

Before I started I was depressed about my weight and always felt tired regardless of how much sleep I had and after refusing to go up another waist size I decided to give it a try.

The first 2 weeks are hard - you are basically allowed 3 main meals per day but with drastically reduced carbohydrate intake (no pasta, bread rice etc) and in between you are allowed snacks but no fruits!

I first noticed the difference after about 1 week when I noticed that my clothes weren’t so tight as before and I was getting more energy (even started jogging) within the first month I noticed a large weight loss (around 20lbs) however this evens itself out and you start to lose weight slowly.

I am still using aspects of Atkins but not as rigerous as previously, I’m back to eating pasta and bread (not white) bit in much smaller portions than previously and it seems to work. If I have a party or something and put a bit weight back on I just switch my eating habits for a day or two and it’s gone again.

My-Diet-Program.com really helped as it showed my all the diets available and gave the pros and cons of each which helped in my final decision.

Thanks once again,
-Colin

I felt better and looked better!

September 28th, 2008 by Thrandur

Most people look at me and think that I do not need to lose weight, but I need to lose 15-20lbs that I have gained after having a sit down job and just having too many of those home baked goodies that everyone likes to bring in.

I was about to go on a wonderful vacation to the Bahamas and to put on a bathing suit, I had to get rid of the extra weight I had on my thighs and tummy.

I had tried the Atkins diet before and I couldn’t even make it one week so I looked into the South Beach Diet as a friend of mine swore by it. This was the first diet that didn’t feel like a diet and that was very easy to understand with the list of foods you can eat or the food to avoid in their book.

After the first week, I had lost 4lbs and I couldn’t believe it. You are to do a no sugar & no carbs for the first 2 weeks.

After the 2nd week, it was more in my clothes getting bigger than seeing the number on the scale go down.

It was crazy how it quickly just started coming off and I kept losing a pound here and a pound there. You have such a large variety of food to eat and snacks throughout the day that you never have that growl in your stomach that you normally have when you eat the wrong foods. It became so easy to say no to sweets after being on it for 2 weeks.

I lost a total of 14lbs and felt better and looked better than ever. Everyone would commit on how good I looked and I felt really good about myself.

The other great thing about the South Beach diet is that it takes a long time to put weight back on when you start slipping into those bad habits again.

Overall, this is a really good diet that I recommend that you will not ever feel hungry as you are doing it. I was able to quickly find the diet on your web site.

46 and can keep up with 26 years olds!

September 12th, 2008 by Thrandur

My best diet was the Atkins Diet. I was 60 pounds overweight and the doctor said lose it or die. I tried many diets but Atkins is the only one that was healthy and worked. It was hard to cut out dairy and breads - well most starches - but after a few days I found it to be easy.

With doing the diet I also walked everynight and done a lot of yard work and work around the house to get my exercise’s in.

Before I started the diet I always felt bloated and tired with no energy at all, whenever I got dressed up, I felt like nothing fit - everything was tight and just pure uncomfortable. After I would say the first two weeks on the diet I dropped around 15 pounds and it made a world of difference and it gave me the desire to keep going.

After about a month and a half, I had lost a total of 35 pounds and I was a completely different guy. It felt good shopping and buying smaller pants and the way people looked at me really boosted my confidince.

After 3 years now I am below the avereage weight for my size and I have a lot more energy and power. When I look in the mirror I am very pleased with what I see. Since the Atkins diet, I eat a lot healthier, I cut out fried foods and snacks, I eat a lot of fruits and vegies and fish, I try to stay away from alot of red meats.

I plan on trying to stay this weight for the rest of my life and just live as healthy as I can, but yet still cheat a little every now and then and snack. But the difference in me is 100% and I would recommend this diet for anyone who is serious about wanting to lose it, because, being serious and commitment is the only way that you will truly lose, doing a little here and there will just complicate it more.

I am proud of myself now at 46 I can keep up with the 26 years olds and really feel good doing it.

Atkins changed my life

September 7th, 2008 by Thrandur

I spent years on roller coaster diets; my weight went up and down but I couldn’t seem to keep the weight off. Then one day I ran across the Atkins diet and it changed my life.

By following Atkins within two weeks my blood sugars were under control and I had lost 11lbs in the first two weeks. I was amazed.

Now a year and a half later I am down to my ideal weight and my diabetes is no longer an issue and on top of it I feel fantastic and have so much energy my kids can’t keep up. It is more than a diet it is a lifestyle and I love it!

Atkins and Weight Watchers

August 14th, 2008 by Thrandur

I have been successful in losing weight twice in my life. First, by using Weight Watchers Online. I had recently graduated college at an all-time max weight and I felt horrible-depressed, tired, lonely. I was actually an employee at a major fast-food chain at the time and I found that eating was still not a problem as the points allowed enough flexibility.

I lost a total of about 25lbs. I felt much better, but still very heavy afterwards.

A few months later a close friend of mine started following the Atkins Diet (at the height of it’s popularity) and I saw the weight just falling off her. So I tried it-with great success! I started to see results in a bout a week and I lost a total of 40 lbs. more. I felt great-I was exercising, I looked fabulous and I went out and found a new man (who became my husband).

I have not continued to use either of these methods, although I did go back and do a “refresher” of the Atkins diet with my husband. It is easy to find info on the Atkins diet on the My-Diet-Program.com web site.

Atkins Changed My Life

August 9th, 2008 by Thrandur

I have choosen the Atkins diet. This diet has helped me lose 41 pounds in two months. This is not just water weight it is actual fat lose. My doctor is amazed at the results. When I started this program I was tired and bloated. I was angry because no diet would work. After about three days on the diet I started to see results my body was changing. I was going to the bathroom regularly and I wasn’t hungry all the time. I felt good.

I am still on this diet and continue to lose more weight. I find it easy to adhere to this diet due to the restrictions. I have changed my life due to this.

10 Times On Atkins

July 16th, 2008 by Thrandur

I have used the Atkins ,no carb diet, at least 10 times in my life. When I start the diet I religiously do not eat any carbs or sugars in any form. Usually when I start the diet I am at about 220 lbs as I am 5 ft 10 male. During the first week I normally drop about 5 to 7 lbs most likely this is water weight as I seem to urinate about twice as much as normal. I eat tons of meat and vegetables all I want ..big thick steaks, lamb chops, canadian bacon, beef jerky etc. As far as beverages I drink a lot of water and some diet cokes.

Most of the weight that comes off seems to be in the stomach area for me as I notice it on my belt holes that I use. In the second week I usually drop another 3 to 5 lbs and experience a little difficulty in sleeping through the night. This sleeping problem seems to grow as the weeks progress on the diet. By the 3rd week I usually drop another 2 or 3 lbs and the diet begins to get old. I am yearning for bread, pasta, sweets etc. By the 4th week which is usually my last week on this diet I drop another 2 lbs or 3 lbs but sleeping through the night is now a major problem, I am not sure why but its a problem for me.

Thus usually I can drop 20 lbs a month on the diet but cant stay on it for then a month at a time. Then once off the diet I slowly go back to my normal eating habits etc and within 3 or 4 months I am back to my normal weight of 220. Their are many articles about the Atkins diet on the internet.

Success With Dr. Atkins Low Carbohydrates

July 16th, 2008 by Thrandur

In the late ’70s, I read an article on Dr. Atkins. His book was not yet available and no labels listed anything as arcane as carbohydrate grams per serving. In fact, I don’t think the labels listed anything other than the contents of the package! So, I had to go out and find books which gave carb counts and bravely go forward since I was impressed with the science involved and knew that it was way better than the “Drinking Man’s Diet” with which it was fatuously compared by those who dismissed (and still are) it out-of-hand.

I didn’t feel particularly healthy when I started, but I wasn’t sick either. Within a week I found out what feeling good felt like. I had great energy and just was a different person. I also lost 30 pounds which I have kept off ever since. I did finally get to read the book but by then I was sold. I have modified the restrictions but I weigh every day so when creep (2 or 3 lbs) starts, I am more strict for a short while. I would never change my life style, not because of the weight so much as for the great rude health I enjoy.

Dr Atkins was right but he still suffers from a terrible press with moronic statements about balance and “it just doesn’t seem right”. The science is there (as doctors who specialize in diabetes know but are careful not to speak the word “Atkins”) and it works. Obviously the method is easy to read about and put into practice. Give it a shot!

From Atkins to Weight Watchers

July 14th, 2008 by Thrandur

The first diet I found success with was The Atkins Diet which consists of eating a lot of carbs. I was feeling run down and tired before starting and right away I started to see a difference in the way I felt and more energized. I was able to drop twenty pounds in a few months and it felt good. After awhile I was tired of eating all the meat, eggs and cheese that I could and didn’t feel the variety was really there. In other words, it was easy in the beginning as I was eating all the things I really loved but it got really boring so I started eating everything I shouldn’t have and started putting the baggage back on.

About five months ago I started weight watchers and lost ten pounds pretty quickly and the difference is you get to eat what you want but amounts are limited. I am now going back and forth with three or four pounds and am having a difficult time going from eating as much as I wanted of certain things to smaller amounts but more variety. Either way, I find it’s not easy. I have never really looked up diets on the internet so I can’t really answer that question. I’m still trying to figure out what the answer is but when you’re used to eating big portions of “unhealthy” food it’s a hard habit to break. I’m hoping with time the task is going to be easier and I must say some days are better than others.
