Lost 20 pounds in weeks!
September 25th, 2008 by ThrandurBefore I started dieting I felt tired all the time. I was hungry every minute I was awake and I was never satified.
I began dieting when I was 26. I found out during my pregnacy that I had gestational diabetis. My doctor referred me to a nutritionist who recommended that I count the total number of carbohydrates I take in my body every two hours.
I was aloowed to have a total of 30 carbs for breakfast, 20 carbs for snack, 40 carbs for lunch, another 20 carbs for snack, and then 50-60 carbs at dinner time followed by my last 20 carb snack for the day.
Needless to say it took some getting used to since I had never checked labels before eating before. I learned quickly to avoid fast food. I struggled at first to get variety because in my mind I could have a cup on Cherri-o’s or three grapes for breakfast. I learned to get creative and try new foods that would last longer and total less carbohydrates.
As a chocolate lover I also had to say no to my favorites. My boyfriend was kind enough to buy me some sugarless candy which surprisingly tasted very close to the regular candy. Because sugar free candy cost so much more it was very motivating to eat less of it and make the bag of chocolates last a longer amount of time.
In weeks I had lost 20 pounds, going from a size 18 to a 16 in jeans. I was so excited to get some postive encouragement. After my pregnancy I had lost a total of 50 pounds not including what I had gained from the baby. I decided then the I wasn’t going to let all my new healthy habits go to waste. I continued exercising and eating a controlled mount of carbs every two hours.
My exercise usually consists of a brisk 2 mile evening walk. I feel a lot better about myself and have the confidence to be out going and enjoy myself instead of being an observer of every one elses social activities. Because I am more involved in activities I don’t have the need to eat due to boredom.
My appetite has become less and I have more energy then I ever did before. I like being me now! I will continue to use and share this diet with others. Counting carbs is easy to do once you get to know what to look for.
My diet was recommended by my nutritionist so I hadn’t looked for it on the My-Diet-Program.com web site. If it isn’t on there I would be very surprised. Counting carbohydrates really works fast and effectively.
