Healthy and fit

October 7th, 2008 by Thrandur

I have used the South Beach Diet and exercising daily with great results.

Before I started, I felt horrible, I was one of those people who wanted fast results and I felt like i wanted to give up. But i kept going knowing in the long run it would help my body out a great deal.

After a couple of months i felt healthier and a little lean on the body. After eating the South Beach diet food, I was more lean, I looked great. The exercising did a great deal on me. I was in better shape.

I have kept using the same methods, but i cheat sometimes. But i eat the bad food in moderation.

I went down three sizes…

October 5th, 2008 by Thrandur

The South Beach Diet truly is a miracle. Before I started on this diet, I was on Atkins and barely making it with the rigid guidelines for eating.

I was at a loss of what to do next, but I knew that I had to find something else. My fiancé at the time bought home a book on the South Beach Diet. I read it from top to bottom and back again. I wanted to be an expert on the diet before starting it. I was suffering from the plateau from Atkins, and I was hoping that South Beach would me move past that.

As all women know, it’s hard to lose weight with all of our issues, but when you hit a plateau, nothing is more depressing. With that depression, came the temptation to just blow up all of my progress and start a feast. The temptation was growing more every day, so I knew I had to make a new choice and quick.

It took around three months before I started to see a difference with South Beach, and the first two weeks of cleansing the body of cravings was somewhat brutal but completely worth the effort.

I am what people call a sugar addict, and it broke me of that habit with those two weeks. I could be at the office and not want to indulge in the treats that were offered on a regular basis.

I went down three sizes with this method of dieting and have kept it off for a while now.

Occasionally, I do have the weekend of not being perfect on it, but the best thing about South Beach is the variety of foods and the wealth of knowledge on the net about recipes for the diet.

As the book suggests, it is wise to incorporate exercise with this diet. The food choices are only one part of the equation. However, if you are unable to exercise, you can still lose the weight. It will just be at a slower pace.

The South Beach diet is perfect for every lifestyle from the busy mom at home to the business executive who barely has time to eat. South Beach is the healthiest diet out there right now. It is giving an individual the basic tools by asking the person to just choose foods that are what most doctors suggest in the first place – whole grains, fruits and vegetables and foods in low in fat.

To me, this isn’t a diet but a lifestyle, and it’s the best one you can make for your life.

I can see that the popularity of South Beach still exists today, and My-Diet-Program.com has some great links to products for the diet. I suggest buying the book from this website and then you’re on your way to a better, healthier you.

I felt better and looked better!

September 28th, 2008 by Thrandur

Most people look at me and think that I do not need to lose weight, but I need to lose 15-20lbs that I have gained after having a sit down job and just having too many of those home baked goodies that everyone likes to bring in.

I was about to go on a wonderful vacation to the Bahamas and to put on a bathing suit, I had to get rid of the extra weight I had on my thighs and tummy.

I had tried the Atkins diet before and I couldn’t even make it one week so I looked into the South Beach Diet as a friend of mine swore by it. This was the first diet that didn’t feel like a diet and that was very easy to understand with the list of foods you can eat or the food to avoid in their book.

After the first week, I had lost 4lbs and I couldn’t believe it. You are to do a no sugar & no carbs for the first 2 weeks.

After the 2nd week, it was more in my clothes getting bigger than seeing the number on the scale go down.

It was crazy how it quickly just started coming off and I kept losing a pound here and a pound there. You have such a large variety of food to eat and snacks throughout the day that you never have that growl in your stomach that you normally have when you eat the wrong foods. It became so easy to say no to sweets after being on it for 2 weeks.

I lost a total of 14lbs and felt better and looked better than ever. Everyone would commit on how good I looked and I felt really good about myself.

The other great thing about the South Beach diet is that it takes a long time to put weight back on when you start slipping into those bad habits again.

Overall, this is a really good diet that I recommend that you will not ever feel hungry as you are doing it. I was able to quickly find the diet on your web site.

My complete lifestyle change…

September 25th, 2008 by Thrandur

I have been heavy most of my life.

In college I was able to diet and exercise down to a size 5. I was thrilled - but keeping up the exercise and calorie counting proved too much after awhile and I went back to my old ways.

After getting married and having children I started taking diet drugs prescribed by my doctor. They were wonderful. I lost weight easily and quickly and soon my husband was telling me how proud he was of me.

One day I went to the dr. and he told me that the gov’t had taken the pills off the market. The weight went right back on in no time.

Years have passed. I’m no longer married and my weight has been getting worse and worse. I’m on meds for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

One day my teenage daughter came home and said the dr. told her she had high cholesterol. That was enough for me.

After researching diets online, I decided to follow the South Beach Diet. It seemed reasonable and other people were saying that giving up carbs for the first 2 weeks wasn’t that hard. I thought if they can do it so can we.

I’ve found the diet to be a complete lifestyle change. I thought that there was no way I was going to be able to deal with no bread or cereal or sweets for 2 weeks. It wasn’t as hard as I thought.

My daughter and I are eating healthy and we’ve found lots of great recipes to make. We’re well into Phase 2 at this point and although carbs are allowed to some degree now we’ve found that we don’t want them. That’s saying quite a bit since we were both addicted to them. We feel great, more alive and more energetic than ever.

Thanks for letting me share our story.

The South Beach Diet

August 21st, 2008 by Thrandur

Before I started the South Beach Diet I felt horrible, like I could barely move. I had sleep apnea, poor circulation, and was unable to stand for more than two minutes.

After about two weeks I began to see the difference.

This diet works, it really works. I had a lot to lose and after two weeks, I had dropped 14 pounds. After that, phase two introduces “good carbs and the loss slows down, but is still consistent. Phase three allows more carbs, but healthy ones. At this point, I was able to start walking a bit and my endurance increased from there.

I have stuck with this program and am sustaining a loss of around two pounds a week.

I easily found the cook books online. The cook books that accompany this diet really help make the diet livable. They are a great tool as you are more apt to stay enthused about staying on the program.

South Beach and Zone Diet Mixture

July 26th, 2008 by Thrandur

In the past I used to attempt any diet under the sun- slimfast, weight watchers (prior to the point system), diet pills, all to no avail. I started losing weight when I stopped beating myself up over everything that I put in my mouth, and when I began eating a diet that did not consist of “diet food.” I literally gave up all “low fat” items, no more low fat ice cream, no more diet soda (no more sodas at all).

I began eating real food, simply in smaller portions. I also reversed my carb/ protein intake, where in the past I ate a majority of carbs, I began eating more healthy protein like boneless skinless chicken. I researched different diets, and ended up using components from both the South Beach Diet and the Zone Diet without prescribing to either one strictly. I increased my intake of “good fats” such as salmon and avocados, and decreased my intake of excessive pasta and breads.

I found by eating the things that I liked, I am more satified with smaller portions. These diet changes combined with 4, 30- minutes walks a week and 3, 20-minute pilate sessions a week created a body that I had longed for all my life. I began to shed pounds, particularly in my mid-section which has always been a trouble spot for me.

I have continued similar methods for 3 years and have maintained my weight after losing 30lbs. I went from a size 10 to a size 4. The biggest success of my changed lifestyle is greater self-esteem, which comes from not only losing weight, but also by feeling as though I am really taking care of my body.

This particular diet website- my-diet-program.com is different from others because it offers a variety of options, ranging from diet supplements to personal blogs regarding diet attempts. This website would appeal to a broad spectrum of individuals because it does not focus on any one area of dieting. I particularly like the section on eating disorders, because I think that a serious dieter can fall into this scary behavior unconsciously. It is an easy website to navigate with easy to find links.
