5 Ways To Gain Muscle Mass

If you’ve been sweating it out in the gym to build that
dream body but have been unable to gain any real muscle mass, then
chances are you are probably not doing the right things. The truth is,
gaining muscle mass isn’t really rocket science and although it requires
a certain amount of discipline, determination and devotion from your
end, the end result will be well worth the hard work you put in.
Here are five surefire ways to help you gain muscle mass in the shortest
possible time:
- Try to Use Free Weights for Every Heavy Set:
Using dumbbells is a
great way to add compound movements to your workout. For instance, when
you use the smith machine to work out your chest, your chest muscles may
feel really pumped, but the reality is that very little mass will be
added this way. As opposed to this, using dumbbells will also involve
your ancillary muscles in the workout and will also help you achieve a
greater range of motion that quite simply increases the number of
muscles you use in training, thereby allowing you to build compound
mass!
- Push Yourself to the Limit, But only Just: When you are working out,
its not a bad idea to flirt with the maximums from time to time. This
means that you should check your strength levels by maximizing one,
maybe even two reps ever so often. However, when you do this, keep in
mind that each time you burden your muscles to the limit, you run the
risk of overtraining or injury. Thus, its recommended that you slowly
increase the weight up to the point you can do only one rep. For
instance, when performing the bench press, start with a reasonable
weight and gradually add weight until you can no longer increase the
load.
- Look to Improve “Other” Areas: One of the ways to gain muscle mass is
to assess your whole physique and zero in on those muscle groups that
you feel need to be bulked up in order to go with the rest of your body.
Once you have determined which muscle groups to bring up to size,
proceed to the gym keeping them in mind and concentrate on working those
areas first. This is because, different individuals always develop
certain body parts better than others, so its important to focus on
those muscles which are less developed compared to others.
-
Avoid Injury: When you combine intense workout sessions with heavy
weights, you inadvertently increase the chances of picking up an injury.
It isn’t uncommon to see many bodybuilding careers meeting an abrupt end
due to torn pecs, strained erectors or slipped discs. All you need to do
in order to avoid injury is to simply warm-up and avoid overdoing things
by gradually working your way towards maximum weights.
- Get Meat!: You need protein to increase your muscle mass. It’s that
simple. Try to include a lot of lean red meats in your diet since they
contain the right nutrients required by your muscles to grow. The
formula really is that uncomplicated. Just combine a high protein diet
with the right kind of work out and you will buff up much faster than
you thought was possible!
